Reitze and John
Yelton have been elected Fellows of the American
Physical Society. David Reitze (APS General) was cited for leadership in the applications of lasers to diverse areas, from the detection of gravitational waves to the ultrafast response of matter. John Yelton (Division of Particles and Fields) was cited for the discovery and study of many baryon states, which contributed to our understanding of the quark structure of hadrons. November 2006Communication Sciences and DisordersKristin Johnston, an Au.D. graduates and current Ph.D. student in Communication Sciences and Disorders, was awarded the Leo Doerfler Scholarship by the Audiology Foundation of America. The ceremony took place at the annual meeting of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists in Scottsdale, Arizona. ReligionProfessor Emeritus of Religion Richard Hiers, who retired in 2003 after more than 40 years of service to the department, is still active in his research endeavors. He has been named chair of the Advisory Committee for the "Journal of Law and Religion" and his biography will appear in 2007's "Who's Who in America." Additionally, he recently published "Binding and Loosing" in "The New Interpreters' Dictionary of the Bible" (Vol. 1, 2006). |
